Ghana Glass Beads | Aqua

Recycled Ghana Glass Beads in Aqua.

Handcrafted by the Krobo people of Ghana, these recycled glass beads are made using a centuries old technique. These beads are created by compressing glass into a dry grain, and heating the grain so that the pieces form together. The recycled glass is rushed into a porcelain cast. The stem of a cassava leaf is used to make the hole. It is baked in a furnace causing the glass to melt together and cassava stem to burn.

Traditionally used in special ceremonies and rich in cultural history, they can be styled on a stand, draped over a bowl, or worn as jewellery.

The necklace includes the display stand.

Made in South Africa.
